Antirheumatic agents and Mazindol

Mazindol is reported not to interact adversely with indo-methacin, salicylates and other analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Clinical evidence, mechanism, importance and management
A double-blind study of mazindol and a placebo was carried out on 26 obese arthritics, 15 of whom were on salicylates, 11 on indomethacin and one on dextropropoxyphene with paracetamol. Additional drugs used were ibuprofen (four patients), phenylbutazone (one patient), dextropropoxyphene (seven patients), paracetamol (three patients) and prednisone (nine patients). No adverse interactions were seen.
